solitaira – day 15 – nanowrimo

•November 15, 2009 • Leave a Comment

In the middle of a major writing marathon right now.  Aim is to catch up to the 25000 word mark by the end of the day.  I started on 14500, because I haven’t written since Monday, so I need to write more than ten thousand words today.  Done three thousand already.  Okay, I can do this.  Really I can.

Off to write :D

behind again :(

on about 8347.  so only a day behind.

But on the plus side I’ve recently discovered the joys of evil + kamikaze mode on writeordie.  Which is way more effective than that ‘gentle’ rubbish I’d been using.  Gives you way too much time to sit and think and stare off into the distance.  Evil gives you about a second.  I like.

Need about 45 minutes of evil/kamikaze to catch up now :D

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 300 words behindddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, this sucks. I’m going to go to sleep now. Or write some more. I really don’t feel like writing. Bleh. I don’t think I planned this year well enough.

Line of the Day: “He was correct,” Tamesis blurted. “I did it. I killed my father.”

Hmm. And today was also the first day I used Write or Die. I was all excited about the desktop version… then I realised you have to purchase it. I would, if I could, but I can’t so I won’t.

KILL ME NOW.

Fallen behind.  Kinda.  Well, I fell behind a couple days ago, and since I’ve only been writing my daily 1667, I just haven’t recovered yet.  That’s okay.  Long weekend starts tomorrow.  NaNo time!!

SENTENCE OF THE DAY… or whatever it is

“You’re a wild and crazy lover, babe, you don’t call your mistress ’sweetie’!”

WORD COUNT: just over 5400. I’m behind both of my friends who’re doing it. Need to write!

Third day of novelling madness and I am approximately 300 (well, actually closer to 280) words ahead. I am so proud of myself. Seeing as I only started writing at around 11PM. I was studying Maths C – I could actually do the revision sheet! Be proud of me! But anyway, I’m going to go to bed now. Exam is first thing in the morning. Okay? Okay. By the way, anyone else finding the GaiaOnline Halloween Event’s 500 mission achievement a bore?

Line of the Day: “And you’re all right with that? Tamesis, they’re going to kill you!”

Uh-oh, looks like my poor main character is getting himself into a bit of trouble…

Anne of Green Gables

•November 3, 2009 • 1 Comment

So, yeah, I was thinking, maybe I should make a proper post?  One that wasn’t, hmm, ranting at bellabrochol, or apologising to bellabrochol, or acknowledging bellabrochol as my sovereign ruler (haven’t made that post yet, but I’m expecting to in the near future…).

So I’m going to write about Anne of Green Gables.  I read those books years and years ago and I hope it doesn’t sound like a cliche saying they were part of my childhood.  Actually I loved all of L.M. Montgomery’s books (I still remember the Story Girl…) but, you know, Anne of Green Gables is like the definition of a ‘childhood favourite’, so I’m going to write about it.  Also because I don’t think the Story Girl ever grew up.  I think she just lived forever and ever as a child, writing stories all day long.  But I could be wrong… sometimes things just pass me by (my favourite character in the Harry Potter universe dies in the last book.  I just realised this fact a few weeks ago, two years after the book came out…)!

“Everything is changing — or going to change,” said Diana sadly. “I have a feeling that things will never be the same again, Anne.”

“We have come to a parting of the ways, I suppose,” said Anne thoughtfully. “We had to come to it. Do you think, Diana, that being grown-up is really as nice as we used to imagine it would be when we were children?”

“I don’t know — there are SOME nice things about it,” answered Diana, again caressing her ring with that little smile which always had the effect of making Anne feel suddenly left out and inexperienced. “But there are so many puzzling things, too. Sometimes I feel as if being grown-up just frightened me — and then I would give anything to be a little girl again.”

“I suppose we’ll get used to being grownup in time,” said Anne cheerfully. “There won’t be so many unexpected things about it by and by — though, after all, I fancy it’s the unexpected things that give spice to life. We’re eighteen, Diana. In two more years we’ll be twenty. When I was ten I thought twenty was a green old age…”

[long pause, as solitaira gathers her thoughts]

Actually…

I don’t think anything I can say here is really worthy of the oh-so-deep thoughts I’m thinking.  I don’t know how to express myself better than that.  There you go, though, bellabrochol, since you’re probably the only person reading this.  Now you know what I think at night.  I checked that out of the library on… Friday? and cried (cried! it was an emotional time for me!) as she left her home, went to university, fell in love, fell in love again, married Gilbert, came back to Avonlea, that’ll be me someday, childhood over, not that I’ll ever go home to Avonlea and Marilla and Green Gables and… maybe I should concentrate on finishing school before I start dreading the rest of my life…

YES IT IS NOVEMBER 1ST

random sentence just for you bellabrochol:

A shiver ran down Katelyn’s spine as she sensed the change – then all too suddenly, it was over, and she found herself thrust away from him, feeling dazed, feeling dizzy, and wondering what the hell had just happened.

BODICE-RIPPERS FTW

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, I’m falling behindddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd… Okay, deep breaths… I can do this… I’m still a little ahead of schedule… I’m going to be okay… SOLITAIRA, I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU WERE DOING NANO INSTEAD OF MATHS C. At least I have my priorities straight this year! Geez.

Line of the Day: “Tamesis Cael de Lumiere, put your shoes back on! And Lloyd, don’t encourage him to do stupid things!”

Ya, I love his sister already. I’m gonna see if I can squeeze out any more words and then I’m gonna go crash in bed. Bleh.

Alrighty. Day one of NaNoWriMo 2009 (for those of you who don’t know, that’s ‘National Novel Writing Month’. Google it.) was… interesting. I’ve just made it over my daily word goal, but I think it’s a fairly poor effort on my part. I must confess, I haven’t actually gotten around to using the life-saving application Write or Die yet, nor have I compiled a proper writing playlist. I’m also seriously considering rewriting my introduction, but do the words still count if you KNOW you’re just going to delete them after the month is over? I sure hope so. I can’t write anymore. My brain refuses to cooperate and I feel slightly ill. Hmm.

Wordcount: 2142

Line of the Day: “I think you forget, Lord von Claude, that there is only one way to remove a king from the throne.”

Ominous? I’d like to think so.

Seitokai no Ichizon 01

•October 13, 2009 • 1 Comment

Very rarely does an anime make me feel so incredibly GUILTY. But it did it. Seitokai no Ichizon, a full parody anime with little-to-no plot, made me feel guilty. And you know why? It’s because of this guy.

Longer haired Keiichi-kun?

Like I said, this show isn’t really supposed to have a storyline (apparently). It’s crammed full of parodies and references to other anime (eg. Kuroshitsuji, CLANNAD, Haruhi, DBZ Kai, Higurashi etc). The basic storyline is this: in the student council board room resides the student council. It is composed of four girls who placed top in the popularity voes, and one boy, who got the top marks in the end-of-year exams.

Okay, so if you hear that, then you’d think: right, this guy has to be somewhat sensible and is probably intimidated by these four beautifulH-games... girls and their plans to mess around instead of actually doing council work, right? WRONG. Just look at this guy’s face. He’s a pervert through and through. Apparently he views the student council as his own personal harem, and he’s determined to reach the ‘harem ending’ (he’s also obsessed with H-games).

So of course, with me expecting a mellow kind of guy and receiving this perverted pervert instead, I was all ready to say ‘no way!’ and put this on the bottom of my to-watch list, but then something amazing happened.

Basically what happens during the episode is the four girls, Akaba Chizuru, Sakurano Kurimu, Shiina Minatsu and Shiina Mafuyu, are continually hit on by Sugisaki Ken, the guy who scored top marks. Don’t get the wrong impression – he only worked hard to get top marks because he wanted to get into the council with the hottest girls in school~ He said so himself. Anyway, they’re trying to sort out club request lists, and he’s basically hanging around being a nuisance. I was all ready to condem this guy for being a loser and hating him for all eternity when…Bishoujo SPARKLE!

He gives them a bit of paper to stamp, telling them that he’s sorted everything out and they only need to give one overall seal of approval. He sends them all home, and then stays back at school to finish off all the paperwork by himself!

I can’t say that didn’t make me feel guilty about judging him. I mean, I’m sure a lot of people liked him being annoying and perverted, because I guess guys are kinda like that (though not to that extreme?) but regardless of his character, I really liked the ending of that episode, even though a lot of other people didn’t. It was just so… sweet. I understand that it added a bit of drama to what was supposed to be a purely let’s-poke-fun-at-everything-and-ourselves kind of show, but still. Personally, I thought it was cute. Though that’s coming from a girl who just literally squee-ed over episode 2 of Tagami Bachi for a whole hour or so. Make of that what you will.

Irritations: the uniforms. The girls’ one isn’t too bad, but the boys’… *shudders*. 12What kind of pants are those? They look like something Kira (KSG SEED) would wear. No offense to poor Kira, of course. I love you, Kira~! You just have a weird taste in fashion.

No thoughts section this time, because I pretty much ranted throughout the entire thing due to a lack of storyline~ But I actually really enjoyed this. I mean, when it was supposed to come out last season, it was actually on my list to watch. When this season came around, I kind of thought, nah, maybe I’ll pass. But I’m glad I gave it a go in the end. I’ll stick with it for a while longer. It was actually really funny, and though the quality was a bit… blegh, I thought it wasn’t too bad. I actually laughed out loud, loudly, at the yaoi part. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a rabid shounen-ai fangirl~

Um, OP was a fairly standard kind of J-pop song. It was certainly very cute and happy. The ED… was kinda annoying, I think. Except the naked running chibis. That was just funny. But I never really liked the cutesy-style of singing. Though it was very catchy.

Um, like I said, I guess I’ll be giving this one a go. I’ve heard that a lot of anime fans have really hated this show, in Japan and out of, but I don’t think it’s all that bad. I reckon, give it a bit of time and it’ll grow on me~

Heh, since I took lots of screenshots and can’t remember where I was going to put them exactly, here they are~

Heh, blogging. Who'd do such a thing?!

USO DA!!!

Naked Chibis

...

Shounen-ai FOREVER~! <3

Alrighty, I’m tired now. Time to finish off this post~
